Chemotherapy-Related Structural Changes in Cancer: Effect of GnRH Antagonist in the Ovarian Follicles

Objectives: The adverse effect of chemotherapy on the proliferation granulosa cells has been indicated in recent studies. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists exert protective effects against side chemotherapy. In present study, we aimed to evaluate impact cetrorelix ovarian following administration thiotepa ovaries female mice. Materials and Methods: this experimental 30 adult Balb/c mice (5-8 weeks old, weighing 24-28 g) were divided into three groups (n=10/ each group) (Control group, T. C. group). group received 2.5 mg/kg for four consecutive days. (0.25 mg/kg) before at same time as a week after end administration. Ovaries used quantitative immunohistochemical studies investigation. Results: mean numbers follicles such primordial, primary, secondary, tertiary significantly decreased than control (P=0.02). Cetrorelix treatment exerted thiotepa-induced damage by increasing cortex (P=0.04). Conclusions: As GnRH antagonist, can be considered one effective drugs protect chemotherapy-induced damages cancer disease.
